Information We Collect
Trucker Dating collects three categories of data: information you give us when you create a profile, information generated automatically when you use the platform, and information from verification partners who confirm your identity.
When you sign up, you provide your first name, email address, age, gender, and home base. To complete your profile you may add photos, the type of freight you haul (OTR, regional, local, flatbed, reefer, tanker), your common routes, and a short bio. You decide what is visible to other members and what stays private.
When you use the platform, we automatically log device type, browser, IP address, approximate location based on IP (state level, not GPS), pages viewed, and the time you spend on the site. This is standard server-log information used to keep the service running and to detect fraud.
When you choose to verify your photo or ID, our verification partner processes a short selfie video and, optionally, a government-issued document. The document image is encrypted, used only to confirm the match against your photo, and deleted within thirty days.
How We Use Your Information
We use your data to operate the dating service, to match you with compatible members along your routes, to keep scammers off the platform, and to communicate with you about your account. We do not sell your personal data to advertisers, data brokers, or affiliates.
Specifically, we process your information to:
- Show your profile to verified women who match your stated preferences and routes
- Deliver privacy-protected messaging, voice notes, and video calls between members
- Run anti-scam monitoring on red flags such as money requests, refusal of video calls, and inconsistent location data
- Send account notifications (new matches, messages, security alerts) by email or push, with one-click unsubscribe on marketing emails
- Improve route-matching accuracy by analyzing aggregated, de-identified interstate data
- Comply with United States, state, and applicable international legal obligations
Our lawful basis for processing under European law is your consent at signup and our legitimate interest in operating a safe dating platform. You can withdraw consent at any time by deleting your account.
Cookies and Tracking
We use a small set of cookies to keep you logged in, remember your theme preference (light or dark), and measure aggregate site usage. We do not use third-party advertising cookies. Full details - including how to control cookies in your browser - are explained in our Cookie Policy.
You can disable non-essential cookies through your browser settings without losing access to your account. Essential cookies (session, security) are required for the platform to function.
When We Share Data
We share personal information only with the limited service providers required to run the platform and only under contracts that bind them to the same privacy standards we hold ourselves to. These categories include cloud hosting, email delivery, photo and ID verification, payment processing for premium upgrades, and anti-fraud screening.
We may also disclose information when we are legally required to - for example, in response to a valid subpoena, court order, or written request from law enforcement investigating fraud, harassment, or threats. We push back on overbroad requests and notify the affected member when the law allows.
We never share your messages, voice notes, or private profile fields with third parties for marketing.
Your Rights Under GDPR and CCPA
If you live in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or California, you have specific rights over the personal data we hold about you. We honor these rights for every member, regardless of where you live.
- Right to access - request a copy of the data we hold on you
- Right to correction - fix anything inaccurate in your profile
- Right to deletion - close your account and erase your data (some records retained briefly for fraud and tax compliance)
- Right to portability - receive your profile data in a machine-readable format
- Right to opt out - refuse the sale or sharing of personal information (we do not sell data, so this is automatic)
- Right to object - push back on processing based on legitimate interest

How We Protect Your Data
Every connection to Trucker Dating is encrypted in transit with TLS 1.3, and personal data is encrypted at rest using AES-256. Passwords are hashed with bcrypt - even our engineers cannot read them. Messages, voice notes, and verification documents sit in segregated, access-controlled storage.
Beyond the technical layer, a small human moderation team reviews flagged accounts every day, and our anti-scam system blocks the most common patterns we see targeting CDL drivers: requests for money, romance-scam scripts, and impersonation of military or oilfield workers.
